Photo of the day | amazing Darwin sunset!

Definitely the best sunset we have had for a while – awesome clouds, great contrast, after-storm glow… great colour!

I was down on Vestey’s Beach, near Darwin’s Ski Club and the NT Museum. The tide needs to be around 4.5m or so to be able to have the water level at the right height for these rocks.

The above photo was taken just as the sun hit the horizon. I chose f22 to get the star burst effect on the sun.

This photo was taken at 6:58pm CST – the sun is actually still above the horizon but hidden by cloud. Usually the best colour I find is after the sun has gone down completely.

The above photo was the last shot I took before leaving the beach. My camera is angled 90 degrees to where the sun was – you can see where the light is coming from by looking at the rocks in the foreground. Light source is directly from the left.

This one was taken at 7:13pm CST. Around 10 minutes after sunset. This sunset was short and sweet! The intense colour didn’t last long.

I would love to know which one of the three is your favourite?
